Meet the Team
Crown Appraisals is led by Jeffrey Berg, ARA, ASA, FRICS. Jeff has spent the last 35+ years in the grain, seed, and fertilizer industry. In today’s increasingly intense and complicated market, Jeff’s education and experience uniquely qualify him to appraise equipment-intensive agribusiness facilities.
He is an accredited member in the ASFMRA (American Society of Farm Managers & Rural Appraisers), ASA (American Society of Appraisers – Machinery and Equipment appraisal specialty), and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Jeff is also a member of GEAPS (Grain Elevator and Processing Society). Jeff was 2012 National President of the ASFMRA (American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers).
He earned his designations from these organizations through years of advanced and continuing education, as well as subscribing to the highest code of ethics. Jeff is involved at both the state and national levels in the ASFMRA and RICS as a leader and qualified curriculum developer and instructor. He is also a Certified National USPAP Instructor by the Appraisal Foundation (USPAP is the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice).
Jeff has presented at national conventions and meetings including the ASFMRA’s Annual Convention & Trade Show. Jeff authored the “Key Elements of Grain Elevator Appraisal” seminar which is offered through ASFMRA and has been attended by several hundred appraisers. Additionally, he has delievered “The Analysis of a Large On-Farm Grain Storage Facility” to scores of rural appraisers. He is an annual exhibitor at the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) trade show as well as the ND Grain Dealers Association and MN Grain and Feed Association trade shows.
Jeff is a Minnesota native with over 35 years of experience in agriculture and agribusiness. Prior to founding Crown Appraisals, he managed a grain and cattle operation – purchasing, trading, and selling farm equipment, agricultural production, cattle, and land.
Jeff holds his Certified General Appraiser License in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and a number of other states and has experience appraising property across the entire U.S. He also holds his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

Brian is a Certified General Appraiser in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Brian is a native of Barnesville, MN. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Business fro m Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and a Master’s degree from the University of Minnesota. He earned his ARA designation from the ASFMRA in 2011 and his MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute in 2021. Megan is a Certified General Appraiser. She graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics in December of 2016. Megan grew up on a grain and sugarbeet farm in southeast North Dakota, and she has previously worked for her hometown grain elevator and for a U.S. government entity. Megan received her ARA Accredited Rural Appraiser designation from ASFMRA in 2021. Megan can be reached at megan@crownappraisalsinc.com.
Tyler is a Certified General Appraiser in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Tyler graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting in December of 2014. Tyler has an agricultural background growing up on a dairy farm in central Minnesota. Along with his farmhand attributes, he has prior work experience as an accountant analyzing financial statements and working with spreadsheets. Tyler received his CPA designation in December 2015, his ABV business valuation designation in 2018, and his ARA Accredited Rural Appraiser designation in 2020. Chelsey Kub is a Certified General Appraiser. She graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness in May of 2014. Chelsey grew up in a small farming community in central Minnesota and spent a great deal of time on her family’s farm. Prior to joining the Crown Appraisal’s team, Chelsey was a retail Sales Agronomist for five years in southeast North Dakota where she specialized in sales and procurement of crop inputs. Jared Oachs an Apprentice Appraiser. He graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics in December of 2017. Jared was raised on a fourth-generation farm in west central Minnesota and served as a agricultural loan officer for six years prior to joining the Crown Appraisal’s team. Katrina graduated from the Minnesota School of Business/Globe University in St. Cloud, MN with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. She gained exposure to agriculture while growing up on a small hobby farm in central Minnesota. Katrina’s work experience has been in Retail Industry where she worked the governmental and corporate accounts to settle and apply account payments for a large hardware retailer. She assisted in customer service troubleshooting along with tending to cash handling. Katrina started with Crown Appraisals in November 2014 as the Office Manager. Her focus is to manage office activity, assist with financial analysis, research, and production of appraisals. She can be reached at katrina@crownappraisalsinc.com.
Joy graduated from Bethel University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management. She grew up on a dairy farm in west central Minnesota. Prior to joining the Crown Appraisal’s team, Joy managed a collision repair business, where she was responsible for writing repair estimates, scheduling, bookkeeping, and day to day operations. Joy started with Crown Appraisals in May 2021 as Accounting Administrative Assistant. Her focus is assisting with financial analysis, research, and production of appraisals.
